The Photo ShootingIn About freelance writing, corporate communications
One of the differences between CVs in the UK and CVs here in Switzerland is the dreaded photo. Various bits of anti-discrimination legislation pretty much preclude putting either a photo or your date of birth on a British CV. Even before age discrimination joined the equality club, it was almost unheard of – unless you were acting or modelling.
But Switzerland is like Germany, in that every piece of personal information you can think of gets included, and it’s all topped off with a tasteful passport sized photo (all tats under wraps). Which means there’s a roaring trade in these parts among photographers offering “Bewerbung” photos – application photos.
And today I joined in and got my very own photo shoot – or photo-shooting if you’re speaking German (which sounds much more down-town LA than down-town Züri).
I’m not giving Kate Moss a run for her money any time soon, and I’ve suddenly fallen very much in love with photoshop. But now I too have some very tasteful headshots which I can post around the internet. Coming soon – on a site near you!
