Dude, where is my car?

Well, I know I have promised pictures and lots of details on my very first own car. Well, the pictures have to wait for the time (I am just too busy) but I decided to disclose the big mistery…. 😉

Since March 5th, I am the proud owner of a metallic blue 1990 Plymouth Acclaim. Never heard of it? No problem, here are some details: Plymouth is Chrysler budget brand. The Acclaim 1990 was built till 1995 with only minor changes and was also available as Dodge Spirit and Chrysler LeBaron. My baby features a 3.0l V6 Mitsubishi EFI (eletronic fuel injection) engine. Yes, it has 6 cylinders and 141 little ponies are galloping below its hood. Ok, hundred or so are usually asleep or grazing somewhere, but when you kickdown, oh boy, they sure wake up! Oh, yes, it has an automatic transmission, makes life so much easier!

The car does have a rather low mileage (~90000) since it hadn’t be used much lately (Anne, I never asked how it felt to have the car gone for good from the driveway….). It lived most of its time in NY, though it did see a bit of the US occasionally. I brought it down from Long Island to Delaware in a ~3 hour trip which was quite ok, including a rather breath taking view of NYC from the Verrazzano narrows bridge and a quit long detour on the 9 and I-195 (no comment…). Sure, the car vibrates below 30 and above 65mph, the AC is dead, the heat only come through the defroster vents, and the passenger side mirror points downwards. But the engine runs fine and ever since I fixed the leaking fuel line last weekend, the fuel odor is gone, too!

Ok, you wanna see some pictures? Check the Auto Consumerguide. This guy has some interior pics. I’ll try to supplement some of my baby asap….

I hope the car lasts me some time. However, ifor any case, I already have picked a selection of possible follo-up cars: Either a Buick Century, a Buick LeSabre, or a Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser with a V8 5.7l engine!

So much for now. Wish you all a very nice weekend!
