Ah, the semester’s over. Final’s are written, seniors have graduated, and silly drunk adolescents have ravaged up and down Main Street. What remains is the silence of an abandoned city…
Memorial Day (next Monday) marks the end of the academic year, at least for students. Starting next week, a calmness will engulf the half a dozen or so Streets of Newark, caused by the mass exodus of undergraduates and even graduates fleeing the premises. No more “ultimate frisbee” players on The Green, no “oh my god’s” in the corridors, no slapping of flipflops to bare feet…
Left behind remains an emtpy Newark silently awaiting the blazing humid heat of the approaching summer. For a meager three months Newark belongs to its hard working (and one chronically lazy) citizens. It will be quiet. It will be heaven!
Of course there is a catch: With the summer break the university also goes into a state of hibernation. Theater, music, movies, lectures, all no more. *sigh* But since the pool in my development will also open its gates next week there will be no need for further entertainment, I wager. Well, we’ll see, we’ll see.
Since Memorial Day is a holiday in these waters, I will be enjoying an extended weekend far away from the toils of science. I hope to return a bit refreshed and clearer in mind…

da dachte ich mir “schau doch mal wieder bei Levent rein, um zu sehen was Levent zur WM und vielleicht zum 1:0 gegen Polen zu sagen hat” und dann sehe ich, dass Du Dich “da drüben” fast tot fährst…Tststs…Wir hoffen es geht Dir soweit gut !!! Wenn es ein selbst verschuldeter Unfall wäre, würde ich das Tina (seit November auch Führerscheinbesitzerin) noch als “Warnung” unter die Nase reiben (Tina fährt seit Ihrer Selbständigkeit nämlich hektischer als ich im Fieberwahn), aber hier ist ja leider Großwild etwas selten im Hamburger Straßennetz anzutreffen.Eins noch zum Thema “Da Vinci Code” (ich muss schon beim tippen des Namens gähnen). Ich habe das Buch gelesen und es ist eigentlich fast eine wortwörtliche Nacherzählung. Da das Buch auch irgendwie ohne wirkliche Höhepunkte auskommt und seinen “Reiz” hauptsächlich aus den “Therorie” zur Blutlinie usw. zieht, kann man dem Film eigentlich noch nichtmal besonders viel vorwerfen. Nur lahm ist er deswegen trotzdem.
Wir hoffen Dich beim nächsten Mal (man munkelte was von Oktober ?) zu sehen und bis dahin alles Gute, gute Besserung, viel Erfolg und fahr vorsichtig 😉
